What is a Geographic Information System?



GIS (Geographic Information Systems) is one of the fastest growing technology sectors in the world. With GIS, technical users link and analyze spatial data sets to model the real world in support of the decision-making process. This concentration prepares you for this important career by giving you indispensable GIS skills and their application to environmental, municipal and resource management projects. You're engaged in the full range of geomatics related activities including: collecting geospatial data using GPS and remote sensing, storing, manipulating, analyzing, interpreting, and communicating geographic information within a variety of disciplines
